As a Senior Staff Platform Operations Engineer, you will lead the technical direction, architecture, and evolution of our internal platform. You will define how platform capabilities are designed, standardized, and adopted across the organization, enabling a scalable, self-service model for application teams.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence platform strategy, improve developer experience at scale, and drive the transition from legacy and snowflake environments to a modern, standardized Azure-based platform. You will operate as a senior technical leader, guiding teams and shaping the future of platform engineering within the organization.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Extensive experience in cloud platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure architecture with a strong focus on building shared platforms and systems.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including networking, identity, compute, and platform design for multi-environment or enterprise-scale systems.
  • Expert-level experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu, including designing and maintaining reusable modules and platform frameworks.
  • Strong experience designing and standardizing CI/CD pipelines, deployment models, and automation strategies.
  • Deep understanding of observability, reliability, and operational visibility, including monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks.
  • Proven ability to define and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across teams.
  • Experience influencing technical direction and driving adoption across multiple engineering teams without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud security, and scalable architecture design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical vision and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven leadership skills with a strong emphasis on mentorship, collaboration, and driving technical excellence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Define and evolve the architecture and technical strategy of the internal platform, ensuring alignment with business and engineering goals.
  • Establish and drive platform standards, patterns, and best practices across infrastructure, deployment, and observability.
  • Lead the design of Azure landing zones, shared services, and platform capabilities that support scalable, self-service application development.
  • Guide the development and standardization of infrastructure as code (IaC) modules and frameworks to reduce variability and eliminate snowflake environments.
  • Drive the evolution of CI/CD and deployment strategies to enable consistent and efficient software delivery across teams.
  • Champion developer experience by ensuring platform capabilities are intuitive, well-documented, and easy to adopt.
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive adoption of platform capabilities, golden paths, and self-service workflows.
  • Define expectations and frameworks for platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with SRE and engineering leadership to introduce and mature reliability practices such as SLIs, SLOs, and incident response models.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the Platform Operations team and broader engineering organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and continuously improve the platform to meet evolving business and technical needs.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $167,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus or commission tied to achieved results.
