Syneos Health is seeking a senior-level Digital and Social Media Strategist for our Digital and Social Strategy (DSS) team. This team member will lead strategic direction across multiple client accounts, oversee the execution of complex digital and social media engagement strategies, and play a key role in driving agency growth and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior digital and social lead across multiple healthcare and pharmaceutical accounts, architecting integrated communications ecosystems that span research and insights, positioning, channel strategy, content planning, deployment, paid amplification, and performance measurement.
  • Translate complex business objectives into forward-looking digital strategies, clearly articulating how social and digital investments drive brand growth, stakeholder engagement, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Provide executive-level counsel grounded in market intelligence, audience analytics, competitive landscape insights, and historical performance data to inform strategic decision-making and investment prioritization.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities within accounts and proactively drive organic growth through expanded digital capabilities, innovation pilots, scaled omnichannel programming, and emerging technology integration.
  • Play a visible leadership role in new business development by shaping digital strategy narratives, leading pitch workstreams, contributing to win strategy, and strengthening the agency's positioning as a digital-first healthcare partner.
  • Partner with account leadership to identify, scope, price, and sell incremental digital initiatives, contributing directly to revenue expansion and account growth.
  • Anticipate and interpret evolving digital, social, platform, and healthcare industry trends, ensuring clients and internal teams remain ahead of innovation curves and regulatory considerations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across strategy, creative, paid media, analytics, and account disciplines to deliver cohesive, high-impact digital programs.
  • Mentor and develop team members, elevating strategic rigor, fostering collaboration, and building scalable digital expertise across the organization.
  • Ensure strong cross-agency integration and alignment with enterprise-wide digital strategy standards, best practices, and innovation initiatives.
  • Oversee development of integrated content strategies and editorial roadmaps, ensuring alignment with brand voice, audience needs, regulatory requirements, and performance objectives.
  • Architect and oversee paid social strategies across relevant platforms, optimizing channel mix, targeting, and budget allocation to maximize ROI.
  • Leverage cultural, social, and healthcare-specific trends to deliver timely, relevant opportunities that enhance brand engagement and credibility.
  • Translate complex analytics and engagement data into executive-ready insights and actionable recommendations that drive continuous optimization and measurable business impact.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Digital & Social Strategy Practice by improving frameworks, processes, operational efficiencies, and innovation adoption.
  • Lead and facilitate strategic brainstorms and innovation sessions, ensuring social intelligence and performance insights inform broader brand and communications strategy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience (including healthcare/pharma experience) as a senior leader in a similar practice, group, or function
  • Knowledge of and experience with the rules and regulations that govern pharma marketing
  • Strong ability to deliver persuasive, evidence-based counsel that wins over C-suite executives who have limited time
  • Comfort working in cross-functional teams and interacting with different people on a daily basis (including clients)
  • Maintain and keep abreast of current and emerging digital and social media technology + platforms, particularly the implications in the healthcare industry
  • An energetic team player with a collaborative spirit and the ability to influence and unify the direct team, peers, and interact effectively as a strategic partner with senior agency management
  • Experience developing content calendars and assets, with knowledge of individual social platforms and their requirements (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X)
  • Experience in website development process and/or project management a plus
  • Experience implementing and managing paid social media campaigns a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office suite
  • Experience with social platform promotion and metrics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Facebook Ads Manager, LinkedIn analytics, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, X Insights, X Ads, etc.)
  • Experience with generative AI tools is a plus but not a requirement.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $150K to $170K. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
