Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary Provides comprehensive forensic nursing care to victims of sexual assault and/or intimate personal violence that present to medical facilities in Richland, Kershaw, and Lexington, McCormick, Saluda or Edgefield counties.

Attend monthly meetings designed to enhance the cooperation between laws, legal, crime lab, victim support, and forensic nursing professionals. Document the entire encounter with the patient including the history, physical findings, interventions, and referrals. Obtain forensic evidence according to protocol including digital imagery, use of toluidine blue dye, microscopy, labs and colposcopy photos. Participate in ongoing research involving sexual assault and domestic violence victims as FNE program is currently involved. Administer medications according to standard orders and dictated by presenting situation. Maintain complete chain of evidence on all forensic materials obtained. Refer patient for further care in the medical, emotional, and legal arenas as dictated by the presenting situation. Inform community of forensic services through community presentations. Assist medical facilities billing of SC Office of Victim's Assistance for services rendered. Commit to cover minimum number of shifts (three 12 hour shifts/week), to include holiday coverage, weekends, nights and other scheduling requirements as determined by the SANE program. Act as a consultant to staff within the hospital when areas relating to the forensic needs of a patient are required. Comply with subpoenas relating to testimony of involved forensic cases. Maintain monthly statistical and written reports designed to summarize relevant information on victim contacts. Assess clinical competencies of forensic nursing staff once yearly and at a more frequent interval if necessary Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Education - Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing program and approved by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Experience - Two (2) years of experience.
