Location: Remote

Ellumen, named a Top Workplace by the Washington Post, is a dynamic small business headquartered in Silver Spring, MD. We specialize in providing a wide range of information technology and ancillary services to both government and commercial clients. Our team is currently seeking a remote Technical Writer to join us in supporting the Coast Guard Electronic Health Records Program.


As a Technical Writer at Ellumen, you will play a key role in supporting our client by creating clear, concise, and well-organized technical documentation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and end-user resources, to ensure accurate and effective communication of complex information. This role requires an individual who is adaptable, has strong problem-solving abilities, and is experienced in managing and producing technical content in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Coast Guard Clearance is required (Active clearance is preferred).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation Revision & Review:

    • Revise and review documentation that includes technical and medical terminology to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
    • Review product artifacts for accuracy, format, spelling, and other quality control checks.
    • Review and provide feedback on management reports, presentations, program documentation, and other program-related documents
    • Ensure documentation is aligned with available templates and formatting requirements


  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Collaborate with internal and external teams to create and update content.
    • Attend and provide minutes for key meetings/calls
    • Participate in project meetings and contribute to project management practices


  • Content Organization & Repository Management:

    • Organize and review program artifact repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Teams) for content accuracy, format, usability, and accessibility
    • Ensure consistent formatting and structure across all documentation

Qualifications:


  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience in leading IT project technical writing, specifically in the federal sector.


  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to create diagrams, workflows, and organizational charts using Visio or similar software.
    • Proficiency in PowerBI with experience building PowerBI dashboards
    • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple responsibilities without frequent oversight.


  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Experience with MHS Genesis or similar healthcare software and military background preferred.
    • Ability to document and understand complex medical workflows and software/hardware implementation concepts.


  • Other Requirements:

    • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Coast Guard Clearance is required (Active clearance is preferred).
