PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates the daily operations between service areas in the department.
  1. Evaluates, identifies, and makes changes in daily nursing activities, which include adjusting staffing between services, use of resources and materials, priority setting, and patient services to enhance the services within the department.
  1. Identifies and implements appropriate staffing and training needs to meet department needs. Coordinates with Nurse Clinicians and Education Coordinator to develop and implement orientation of new employees, certification, and student affiliation.
  1. Implements, interprets, and ensures hospital and division philosophy, policies, procedures, and established standards of care and practice. Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  1. Researches, develops, and implements projects as assigned.
  1. Participates in the unit Quality Improvement activities.
  1. Serves as a communication liaison between patients, families, staff, and physicians, and reports critical consequences of actions taken to Director.
  1. Assists in supervising nursing staff, including hiring recommendations, assignments, training, counseling, evaluating, and discharging.
  1. Assists in preparing monthly staffing schedules according to patient acuity, unit needs, and staff abilities.
  1. Assists in the development and control of annual operational and capital budgets.
  2. Complies with hospital and professional license, certification, inservice, and training requirements, and committee and conference participation as appropriate for position.
  3. Maintains familiarity with patient care issues relating to medical problems, surgical procedures, and diagnostic studies, and technical training in the use of equipment pertinent to area.
  1. May perform the duties and responsibilities of the Staff Registered Nurse.
  1. Assists with staff and shift meetings, and provides feedback to Director/Manager.
  1. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/visitor/patient injuryaccident to Director.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  1. Attends classes, workshops, in services, etc. to improve clinical performance and enhance nursing knowledge base.
  1. Serves on committees within the organization.
  1. May assume additional responsibility for the Department when designated.
  1. Formulates personal objectives and conducts self-evaluation.
  1. Supports nursing research.
  2. Motivates staff and enhances morale.

OPERATING ROOM CLINICAL COORDINATOR

  1. Establishes daily work schedules and assignments for assigned shift to ensure appropriate staffing for scheduled surgical procedures. Evaluates and adjusts staffing assignments as needed during shift.
  1. The 7-3 Clinical Coordinator will deliver morning and afternoon shift reports.
  1. Works closely with scheduling on a daily basis to evaluate, identify and make scheduling changes to enhance services.
  1. Closely monitors the surgery schedule for the assigned shift and identifies and implements changes that will facilitate the timely accommodation of surgical cases. Serves as the communication liaison for physicians, patients, families, staff, and other departments to facilitate these changes.
  1. Directly supervises the nursing and ancillary staff for the assigned shift.
  1. In collaboration with the Administrative Coordinator assumes responsibility for the counseling and disciplinary actions for the assigned staff.
  1. Serves as a resource to staff for troubleshooting and resolving issues that occur intraoperatively.
  1. Collaborates with the Clinicians, Surgical Processing, and Purchasing to ensure appropriate supplies and instrumentation are available to meet departmental needs.
  1. Participates in taking Supervisor Call on a rotating basis.

OPERATING ROOM ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR

  1. Assumes 24-hour accountability for the assigned unit.
  2. Prepares the monthly staffing schedules. Assumes final approval of the schedule prior to its being posted.
  3. Determines the on call coverage that is required and assumes responsibility for the posting of the call sheets, the assignment of call as needed, and any required follow-up to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  4. Assumes first line responsibility for the interviewing and hiring of staff for the assigned unit.
  5. In collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator assumes responsibility for the counseling and disciplining of the assigned staff.
  1. Assists the Manager and Director in the preparation of the annual Operating and Capital Budgets.
  1. Works closely with Purchasers/Buyers, Clinical Coordinators, Nurse Clinicians, Surgical Processing, and Purchasing to facilitate the purchase of equipment and supplies. Will sign all daily PO's for the assigned department.
  1. Works closely with the Nurse Clinicians in the preparation of Capital Equipment requisitions.
  1. Conducts Nurse Clinician and Resource Technician meetings on a monthly basis.
  1. Assists the Clinical Coordinator in handling unresolved issues involving the daily basis and collaborates appropriately with physicians, other departments, and Surgical Services management to effectively address issues.
  1. Participates in taking Supervisor Call on a rotating basis.
OPERATIONS COORDINATOR, MOTHERSFIRST
  1. Assumes 24-hour accountability for the program, observing classes that occur outside normal business hours/days and oversees weekend staffing emergencies.
  1. Supervises and schedules the instructor staff, including hiring, orientation, evaluation and retention. Assures ongoing competency.
  1. Coordinates daily operations: supervision of multiple class locations, ensuring class supply inventory levels are maintained and computer equipment is updated and operational with links to current curriculum PowerPoint presentations.
  1. Oversee class scheduling process, ensuring that adequate number/type of classes are available to meet customer volume/demand.
  1. Participate in the budgetary process.
  1. Update/Edit PowerPoint class curriculum, post class web app education and Maternity Web APP. Train and orient staff on accurately utilizing curriculum and effectively promoting post class web app programs and the Maternity Web APP.
  1. Serves as a resource and role model to staff through knowledge of adult learning, trends in childbirth education and pregnancy related health issues, and advanced computer and presentation skills.
  1. Develops and implements departmental goals and action plans. Develops and monitors additions to the program. Identifies and implements process improvements.
  1. Monitors customer satisfaction through surveys and frequent class observation and provides service recovery, when warranted. Provides instructor mentoring/assistance for growth and development.
  1. Annually collaborates with in-house departments (FCC, SCN, L&D) to perform edits and communicates with the publisher to create/update paper and online patient education literature distributed at all campuses.
  1. Works closely with Marketing to create materials to promote classes, web apps and new patient/physician educational materials.
OPERATIONS COORDINATOR, DIABETES AND NUTRITION EDUCATION
  1. Assumes 24-hour accountability for the program.
  1. Supervises staff, including hiring, evaluation and retention. In collaboration with the Department Manager, assumes responsibility for the counseling and disciplinary actions for the assigned staff.
  1. Works closely with Clinician to set-up orientation and to assure ongoing competency.
  1. Establishes daily staff assignments to ensure appropriate staffing for scheduled patients. Evaluates and adjusts staffing assignments as needed during shift.
  1. Coordinates daily operations: supervision of multiple classes/sessions locations. Closely monitors the daily patient schedule and identifies and implements changes that will facilitate the timely accommodation of educational classes/sessions.
  1. Prepares the monthly staffing schedules. Assumes final approval of the schedule prior to its being posted.

Service Coordinator - IV Therapy

Administers and directs the systemwide IV Therapy program and supervises assigned personnel. Maintains twentyfour (24) hour accountability for clinical services provided by the IV Therapy Team. Acts as a clinical resource for medical and nursing staff. Serves all patients including, but not limited to pediatrics, adolescent, adults and geriatrics.

IV Therapy PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  1. Attends classes, workshops, in services, etc. to improve clinical performance and enhance nursing knowledge base.

  1. May assume additional responsibility for the Department when designated.
  1. Supports nursing research.
  1. Motivates staff and enhances morale.

Lactation Center

  1. Provides 7 days per week oversight of Feeding Preparation Program daily operations.
  2. Coordinates the operational processes of the Feeding Preparation Program - which includes maintaining compliance with American Dietetic Association and Human Milk Banking of North America guidelines; collaboration with Special Care Nursery, Infection Control, Nutrition and Pharmacy committees; the development, evaluation, implementation and revision of nutrition support policies and procedures.
  3. Instructs and supervises Lactation Technicians in the preparation of specific enteral, parenteral and nutritional formulations as directed by the Neonatologists and the Nutrition Support Team. May include multiple campus program and staff supervision.
  4. Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electronic scanning programs for the Feeding Preparation Program.
  5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge and technical training in the use of products pertinent to the Lactation Center and Feeding Preparation Program. Attends continuing education programs to promote professional growth related to the medical scope of the Lactation Center and the Feeding Preparation Room.
  6. Maintains current certification related to scope of services, use of products, and oversight of departmental policies and procedures.
  7. Provides patient education related to the proper use and application of lactation products and milk preparation procedures..
  8. Responsible for screening and hiring of new personnel; may counsel, discipline and evaluate assigned employees in accordance with hospital policies.
  9. Prepares monthly staffing schedules and assigns weekly duties as necessary to assure appropriate levels of coverage.
  10. Oversees preparation of bi-monthly payroll. Maintains attendance sheets and provides feedback to assigned employees regarding attendance and clock-in policies.
  11. Oversees the patient charging system and performs related activities to include working with billing office to research and resolve patient billing complaints. Supervises daily accounting procedures, which include deposits, sales, charges and record keeping; checks work for accuracy and completeness.
  12. Prepares and/or provides statistical, financial and other reports and documents to various hospital departments, physician offices, managed care agencies and patients/representatives as necessary.
  13. Responsible for the maintenance of personnel files to ensure current license, required certificates, annual competencies, education hours, and time and attendance are up to date.
  14. Acts as a direct liaison to physician offices, managed care agencies, patients, hospital personnel, and others as necessary to schedule consults, provide information, resolve problems, and/or as otherwise necessary.
  15. Develops effective competency and performance plans with appropriate objectives for measurement that coincide with job descriptions for assigned staff.
  16. Oversees the maintenance of patient files, to ensure accurate data entry and record keeping, in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  17. Oversees inventory and ordering supplies and equipment. Participates in the selection of products needed for the department and assists the manager during the annual fiscal budget process.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Other duties as assigned by supervision.

REQUIRED

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and licensed in the state of Georgia.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in skills applicable to designated area within probationary period.
  • Four (4) years of experience in nursing, with minimum of two (2) years in area of specialty.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinates diversified and multiple activities, and make appropriate clinical and managerial decisions. Must possess advanced problem solving skills.
  • Successful completion of a management course prior to appointment, or within six (6) months of employment.
  • Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
