Job Summary

Manages the ServiceNow System Administration and development. This includes the administration, development, operation, education, and maintenance of the ServiceNow platform. Serves as a developer and technical subject matter expert for the ServiceNow system. Partners with stakeholders to develop workflows, perform needs assessments, assist in solution development, and influence organizational change. Be a part of the on-call function of the Incident/Change team.

  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Supports implemented and proposed solutions on the ServiceNow platform. Load, manipulate, and maintain data, and API integration between ServiceNow and other systems.
  • Develops ServiceNow software solutions using JavaScript, Web Services, MYSQL, XML, HTML and CSS. Perform code reviews to ensure that the quality bar is being met about coding standards, integration, extensibility, and security. Create and maintain a detailed view of the ServiceNow architecture.
  • Deploys of features and ServiceNow releases. Makes recommendations and participates in implementing ServiceNow requirements and provide architectural controls and impact analysis for new requirements.
  • Provides timely and courteous support to users.
  • Manages the ServiceNow software releases through configuration tasks and feature delivery and optimize stability and usability of ServiceNow through regular application maintenance. Research and stay current in ServiceNow products and applicable integrated technologies.
  • Partners with stakeholders to develop workflows, SLAs, perform needs assessments, assist in solution development, and influence organizational change.
  • Participates on-call function of the Incident/Change team. Collaborates with team members to design best solutions for technical issues.
  • Works with users to eliminate problems, errors and to improve the end user experience presented in ServiceNow.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Studies or other technical discipline and three (3) years related experience; OR seven (7) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.



Departmental Requirements
  • Experience as a ServiceNow Developer
  • Experience as a ServiceNow Application System Administrator
  • Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD) certifications
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, sprints, daily standups) for effective project delivery.
  • Experience using software best practices to develop ServiceNow solutions and workflows.


Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, including client-side and server-side scripting, Glide API, AJAX, and JavaScript frameworks used within ServiceNow (e.g., AngularJS).
  • Familiarity with HTML, XML, CSS, and other web development tools and techniques.
  • Understanding database concepts and management, including data storage, retrieval, optimization, and working with technologies like JDBC, SQL, and LDAP.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, including implementing access controls, data encryption, and secure coding practices within the platform.
  • Skill in designing intuitive and user-friendly forms, dashboards, and portals on ServiceNow, ensuring accessibility and positive user experience.
  • Proficiency in using REST and SOAP APIs, MID Servers, and data exchange formats like JSON or XML to integrate ServiceNow with other systems.
  • Ability to design, implement, and optimize workflows using tools like Flow Designer and Workflow Editor to streamline business processes.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and resolve problems within ServiceNow scripts and applications.
  • Skill in creating clear and concise technical documentation for reference, reporting, and knowledge transfer.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, share knowledge, and collaborate with other developers and stakeholders.
