We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will work across organizations, to connect spacecraft, payload, and ground elements to define advanced solutions for our customers. This role is on the Mission Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) team and supports the Flight Software Architect in defining system level software requirements and allocations to define the software implementation approach for space and ground systems. Your vision will drive project success and make a significant impact in our field. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide array of professionals, including customers, team members, systems engineering, architecture, hardware, and software teams.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical experience, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

  • Collaborate with the Blue Ring Flight and Ground Software Teams to define software and system requirements
  • Analyze mission requirements for multiple mission types and ensure accurate flow-down and traceability to software elements in the system architecture
  • Generate MBSE artifacts such as space vehicle States and Modes definitions, Operational Constraints, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and behavior diagrams for flight software and ground system engineering efforts and interface design
  • Perform as a subject matter expert on spacecraft and ground system capabilities and constraints to support the definition of multiple candidate architectures for software interfaces to meet evolving customer needs for a growing set of mission types with a product line of spacecraft in development
