Job Description

Detail-oriented and highly motivated team player, who can also work independently. Supports the Company's accounting and internal control functions. An integral part and key contributor to the monthly closing process and investment accounting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Prepares complex balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Reviews balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Analyzes financial information with a key focus on control and compliance while addressing any new requirements.
  • Analyzes general ledger accounts for reporting and adjustment needs.
  • Maintains files and documentation in accordance with bank policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Contributes to month-end closing and financial reporting.
  • Maintains and processes the investment accounting module, including:


    • Recording monthly transactions (purchases, sales, calls, maturities, payments, etc.)
    • Updating market values on a monthly basis
    • Processing the investment module for amortization/accretion and interest accruals


  • Manages the Accounts Payable ("AP") process


    • Reviews AP work performed and leads the staff accountant
    • Ensures AP is efficiently and effectively processed
    • Ensures internal controls over AP are followed throughout


  • Owns the fixed assets and prepaid subledgers


    • Includes reconciliation and processing


  • Maintains the wholesale funding sub records in the investment module
  • Assists with the reconciliation of the Federal Reserve Bank cash balance and acts as liaison to other departments on reconciling items of the same.
  • Perform month-end analysis and adjustment to assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Acts as a backup to others in the department.
  • Identifies and recommends continuous process improvements and accounting best practices to further enhance the timeliness, accuracy and relevance of reporting provided to our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assists with research and implementation of new accounting software/solutions.
  • Provides timely and accurate accounting information in response to management requests.
  • Assists with all internal/external audits and other regulatory exams.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the Company's FDICIA/SOX internal controls program.

Experience and Skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Knowledge and familiarity with general accounting principles, including accounts payable/receivables, investments, fixed assets, borrowings, cash, production of spreadsheets, and mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, across all departments.
  • High-level analytical skills.
  • Drive to develop and move to the next level.
  • Ability to manage a team and detail-review work performed by others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with minimum of five years of experience in public or corporate accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Exposure to accounting for investments and borrowings.
  • Certified Public Accountant is a major plus.
  • Strong knowledge of PCAOB auditing standards, a plus.
  • Proficiency with computer-based accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications (a high level of proficiency with Excel is required).

Pay Range: $69,794.45 - $90,732.79

The pay range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the pay range for this job at the time of posting.

Actual pay may vary based on experience, skills, and market factors; additional compensation may apply.
