SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, perform a variety of rough and finished carpentry work including cabinet making, Maintains the integrity of the fire smoke wall construction throughout the Hospital and its related buildings. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technical supervision of assigned staff. Design and estimate cost of required carpentry work from blueprints, diagrams and verbal instructions. Build and construct counters, cabinets, partitions, ceilings, floors, and install doors as required by work order or direct assignment. Repair desk, tables and chairs including replacement of legs, drawers and table tops; operate various carpentry hand and power tools. Assist Construction and Plant Operations personnel in performing skilled and unskilled trades as assigned. Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives. Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Miriam Hospital, Facilities Management Department policy and the Fleet Risk Control Policy and Procedures. Must have a good driving record, meet and maintain the appropriate and valid driver licenses in order to operate motor vehicles as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and in accordance with the Brown University Health Fleet Risk Control Policy. Perform other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Equivalent to completion of four years of high school or vocational training plus three years carpentry apprenticeship. Qualified Installer of Fire stop products certification required. General knowledge of all fire stopping products and systems. EXPERIENCE: Two to three years of experience including at least one year of finished carpentry work. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May provide technical supervision of assigned crew workers.
