Job Overview

The Valley Intern Program (VIP) is a unique and challenging 9-week experience for diverse, talented and motivated students who are interested in gaining relevant experience in their specific area of study within the banking industry. As a Valley Human Resources (HR) intern you'll be aligned to the People Resources department. You will have opportunities to support one of the following HR Centers of Excellence: Learning & Development, Employee Relations, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, and Diversity & Inclusion. The selected intern for each team will gain real-world skills and experience - integrating academic learning with practical application in the human resource sector of Valley Bank. We offer the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to grow professionally and contribute to the end results of the assigned projects on one of the supporting teams.




Talent Development & Enterprise Learning Intern will assist the Learning and Development Team with classroom preparation and Learning Management system (LMS) related projects.




  • Support learning programs: Help with the planning, coordination, and execution of training sessions and workshops.
  • Conduct external research: Research best practices and emerging trends in talent development.
  • Develop talent development expertise: Gain knowledge and skills in creating and implementing talent development strategies.


  • Prepare materials and support in the classroom as needed: Assist instructional design team in creating educational materials and provide support in the classroom (as applicable).
  • Course Management: Help with uploading and managing online course content within the LMS. Provide reporting.

Expected Work Hours
40 Hours per week M- F
Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Complete special Department Projects as assigned.
  • Update training records via the LMS.
  • Set up training programs via the LMS.
  • Test online modules in LMS, provide feedback and potential solutions for any issues that may arise.
  • Assist in the classroom (via Zoom) to gain valuable experience (time permitting).
Requirements
Required Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient technical skills, including applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and web browsers such as MS Edge and Google Chrome.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Displays a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to be resourceful and work independent.
Required Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED and enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program.
  • Enrollment in a 4-year college or university, with a concentration in human resources or related field preferred.
