SUMMARY

The Leverman is responsible for the operation of a Cutter Suction Dredge, which includes the coordination of personnel and supporting equipment to dig efficiently and safely, according to job specifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May complete other projects and duties as assigned.



  • Controls the movement and positioning of the cutter suction dredge
  • Manages the consistency of the slurry entering the pump to maximize production
  • Digs on anchor and spud systems
  • Communicates clearly with the dredge and attendant plant crew as well as other marine traffic
  • Directs personnel to safely assist in the dredge operations as needed
  • Manages dredge systems through PLC
  • Maintain and enforce a safe working environment.
  • Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct. Maintain a high standard of ethical behavior, encourages ethical behavior in others, supports ethical decisions and actively seeks appropriate resolution to potential ethical conflicts.
  • Extensive travel will be required for this position.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Supervises craft personnel and on occasion salaried personnel in dredge moves and routine dredging tasks


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 3+ years' experience working as a Leverman on a Cutter Suction Dredge
  • Must be able to pass a post offer physical exam and drug screen
  • Must be able to work 8 to 12 hour shifts, on all types of dredges or marine construction projects
  • Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, and high noise levels
  • Able to communicate well as part of a small team, and work cooperatively with other colleagues.
  • Must be able to travel and work a rotating schedule
  • Experience digging on a 30" Hydraulic Cutter Dredge is preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to give and receive, understand, respond and follow verbal and written communication/ and instructions

  • Must have a valid picture ID

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to adverse weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, respirators, etc.). The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, to grasp, grip, handle, or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
