Volunteers of America Oregon is seeking a male-identifying Bilingual Recovery Mentor to provide substance use recovery support services for Latino adult men receiving care in the Home Base Recovery program, a 13-bed cohort model. The Recovery Mentor also provides Recovery Support Services to male-identifying participants who are enrolled in VOA Outpatient Treatment Services program. Support services may include assistance with benefits paperwork, linkage to recovery resources, including the recovery community, medication assistance, and teaching and modeling positive recovery skills.

Compensation: $22.44 - $29.91/hour, a 3% bilingual differential is included in the posted salary range, (Depends on Experience and/or Certifications). This is a full-time position with excellent benefits! Benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, 403(b) with automatic 5.5% contribution after 18-months regardless of employee participation, flexible spending account, employee assistance program, and other voluntary benefits and discounts. A generous paid time off plan includes 15 days in the first year, 23 days in the second year, and 26 days in the third year, in addition to 10 paid holidays and 3 paid personal holidays per year.

Education, Training & Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • MHACBO Recovery Mentor certification (CRM) required or ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire.
  • Bi-lingual, bi-cultural in Spanish/English required.
  • Experience working with clients who are in recovery from substance use disorders, and who are experiencing mental illness.
  • Experience with engagement enhancement strategies.
  • Experience with electronic health records preferred.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:



  • Must be able to pass criminal background check.
  • Must meet the requirements set forth by OAR 309-019-0125 Staff Qualifications and Competencies as well as the CRM certification requirements set forth by MHACBO.
  • Able to drive to offsite locations using own vehicle. An active driver's license, current insurance, a reliable vehicle and ability to pass our insurer's driving standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide recovery support services and mentoring for Latino Home Base Recovery clients.
  • Provide services that may include assistance with benefits paperwork, transportation; linkage to recovery resources, including the recovery community; and escorting or driving to activities and appointments.
  • Teach and model positive recovery skills.
  • Monitor and assist clients with medications.
  • Count medications, dispose properly of medications as needed and ensure that medications are accurately recorded in logbook.
  • Provide supervision of clients to ensure a safe, secure, and sanitary environment. Provide crisis support as needed.
  • Write and maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation including electronic health records.
  • Scan medication forms to medical records department to upload in electronic health record.
  • Promptly communicate treatment, policy, and security issues to appropriate staff member, such as any unapproved onsite visitors.
  • Participate with team members (clinical, administrative and support staff) in a collaborative manner that contributes to healthy team functioning.


Work Environment:



  • Works in a recovery residence and also an at outpatient treatment clinic with moderate light and temperature.
  • Frequently travel, locally to transport clients to appointments, attend meetings and events.
  • Must be prepared to handle client crises and/or emergencies


Schedule: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs. per. week. Saturday through Wednesday swing shift.
