We are seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife to join our Labor and Delivery team. The CNM will provide high-quality, patient-centered maternity care with a high degree of clinical autonomy while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members. This role supports safe, evidence-based care throughout labor, delivery, and the perinatal period, in alignment with ACNM Standards of Practice and Massachusetts state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive maternal health assessments, including detailed health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
  • Diagnose and manage pregnancy-related, co-morbid, acute, and chronic medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care in partnership with patients and collaborating physicians.
  • Manage patients in the Labor & Delivery triage unit, prioritizing care based on acuity and unit volume.
  • Communicate effectively with charge nurses, attending physicians, and faculty regarding admissions, procedures, and patient flow.
  • Ensure accuracy of clinical tracking tools, including Case Depot and Snapboard.
  • Prescribe medications (Schedules II-VI) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide patient education and coordinate admissions, discharges, referrals, and transitions of care.
  • Assist with operating room procedures as outlined in established protocols and physician supervision.
  • Document care and patient outcomes, evaluate effectiveness of treatment plans, and communicate results to physicians.
  • Maintain delineation of clinical privileges and adhere to departmental, hospital, and regulatory policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, call schedules, and rotating weekends.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, education, and evidence-based practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree from an ACNM-accredited Nurse Midwifery program.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • National certification through the ACNM Certification Council.
  • Minimum of two years of full-scope practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • Strong clinical judgment with ability to recognize when care exceeds CNM scope.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an inpatient Labor and Delivery setting.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Medium physical demands.
  • Indoor clinical environment with direct patient care responsibilities.
