POSITION TITLE: Security Manager
DEPARTMENT: Operations
SUPERVISOR: Director of Operations
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Manager is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the security operations at The Salvation Army Kroc Center Hawaii (Kroc Center Hawaii). This includes the supervision of both in-house and outsourced security personnel, coordination of safety protocols, and ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for Kroc Center Hawaii's members, guests, employees, students (including after-school youth), and visitors. The Security Manager ensures that the Security Team assumes a leadership role in every emergency response scenario. The position requires a strong, consistent, front-facing presence throughout the facility and plays a key role in upholding The Salvation Army's mission and values while maintaining sensitivity to the cultural and community dynamics of West Oahu.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Security & Safety Operations:
* Supervise, schedule, and evaluate in-house security staff and manage the relationship with contracted/outsourced security personnel.
* Oversee daily security operations throughout the property, including the monitoring of all building access points, perimeter patrols, and video surveillance systems.
* Coordinate and execute event-specific security and parking management plans to ensure efficient traffic flow and crowd safety during high-attendance and weekend events.
* Respond promptly to incidents, accidents, or emergencies, including those involving youth or vulnerable adults, and document detailed reports for internal records.
* Serve as the primary contact for emergency services, including the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), Honolulu Fire Department (HFD), and other first responders.
* Ensure protocols are in place to detect and respond to building system malfunctions during non-operational hours (e.g., pool system failures, water leaks, fire-related alerts). The Security Team is responsible for initiating prescribed mitigation measures and promptly notifying the Facilities Team or relevant personnel.

Risk Management & Compliance:
* Conduct routine inspections and safety audits to assess and address potential security or safety risks, including compliance with The Salvation Army's Protecting the Mission (PTM) standards for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
* Collaborate with the Kroc Center's Risk Management team to ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, emergency preparedness plans, and health & safety protocols.
* Support the development and implementation of crisis management, evacuation, and lockdown procedures.
* Participate in monthly meetings with Kroc Center Hawaii's Congregational Emergency Response Team, including monthly observance of Kroc Church morning services, to ensure consistent alignment of all safety protocols and practices with the Kroc Center's overarching policies and procedures.

Leadership & Training:
* Lead ongoing security training programs for all Kroc Center staff, including emergency response drills, PTM awareness, active threat protocols, and customer service in high-stress situations.
* Foster a security culture that balances vigilance with hospitality, ensuring that all team members support The Salvation Army's core values of compassion, respect, integrity, and excellence.
* Collaborate with all department managers to ensure that each department's emergency response plans are developed, maintained, and aligned with the Kroc Center's overarching emergency preparedness and response framework.
* Coordinate the security team's customer service and conflict resolution training in partnership with the Training & Business Support Manager to ensure alignment with the Kroc Center's Aloha Customer Service model.

Administrative & Liaison Responsibilities:
* Maintain up-to-date records of incidents, security logs, and training documentation.
* Provide regular reports and security updates to the Director of Operations and/or Operations Coordinator and participate in leadership meetings as required.
* Build partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and agencies to support collaborative safety efforts.
* Stay informed on local security threats, trends, and community concerns that may impact the Kroc Center.
* Track incident trends and recommend improvements in policies, procedures, and training.
* Regularly communicates updates, concerns, emergencies, and other relevant information to affected parties, including individual departments and the center as a whole.
* Actively participates in the Member Relations Committee, contributing to policy enforcement, code of conduct reviews, and decisions regarding patron disciplinary actions such as suspensions and trespasses.
* Serve as an active liaison with the Team Leadership on Duty (TLD) to ensure effective alignment and coordination during daily operations and critical incidents.

Qualifications:
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in security management, public safety, or law enforcement, preferably in a community-oriented or educational environment.
* Prior managerial or team leadership experience required.
* Knowledge or familiarity of OSHA standards, risk management practices, and emergency response procedures.
* Experience working with youth, families, and multicultural communities preferred.
* Familiarity with The Salvation Army's Protecting the Mission (PTM) policies or similar safeguarding policies is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to remain calm and professional under pressure.
* Strong organizational and administrative abilities, including report writing and scheduling.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and security monitoring software/systems.
* Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
* Physically capable of performing patrol duties, responding to emergencies, and lifting moderate loads (up to 50 lbs.).
* Must pass background check, drug screening, and complete all PTM and safety-related trainings upon hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 50-75 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds. This employee must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and during special events.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
This position requires frequent communication with executive team members, co-workers, clients, law enforcement personnel, and vendors. Responsibilities include written and verbal communication; responding to requests from co-workers, clients, law enforcement personnel, and vendors; communicating by telephone; providing and receiving verbal and written instructions; training others; composing written materials; and reading and interpreting written information. The role also requires visiting and working at other worksites and communicating using current and emerging technologies.

The position requires the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The position also requires the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is regularly exposed to inside and outside work in all types of weather, i.e., wet and/or humid conditions, heat or cold.

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
* Must have current State of Hawaii Driver's License
* Must have current valid State of Hawaii Guard Card
* Certification or ability to attain same within required time period for the following: First Aid, CPR, AED and CIP (Crisis Intervention Program)
