Essential Job Functions: The partner must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation:
Researches, evaluates and negotiates contacts with utility service providers. Activities include establishing and maintaining relationships with service providers and consultants and evaluating vendor performance. Works with energy consultants and others to evaluate, develop and implement programs to reduce utility costs and improve efficiency and contingency plans. Monitors, tracks and reports on use of electricity, gas, water, sewer and waste management services at pet care centers and other facilities, and schedules outages and equipment repair and replacement activities. Coordinates startup and discontinuation of services to ensure uninterrupted utility services. Confers with staff in other departments to provide advice on use of electricity, gas, water, sewer and waste management services. Manages Petco's energy management computer systems. Activities include: (a) evaluating, developing and implementing system setup requirements and ensuring schedules, operational processes and programs are functioning as desired; (b) reviewing reports provided by energy management system vendors; and (c) identifying trends and makes recommendations to improve efficiency. Reviews documentation and resolves issues (e.g., over billing, back billing, and refunds) on requests for payment of invoices and sends invoices to accounts payable for payment. Tracks, collects and reports on rebate payments on utility-related projects and ensures payments are applied to company accounts correctly. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and funding parameters. Confers with utility and waste management service providers and others to resolve problems (e.g., outages, poor service, etc.). Develops and manages annual utility budgets. Analyzes, forecasts and reports on consumption of electricity, gas, water, sewer and waste management services and related expenses at pet care centers and other facilities. Confers with management and provides advice on proposed sustainability projects and activities (e.g., feasibility, estimated costs, impact, etc.) to prevent and reduce waste.
Education/Experience:
10 years of progressively responsible experience working with energy systems, on either the provider or consumer side, including 3 years of experience managing energy programs and vendors, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training. Advanced knowledge of utilities (electric, water, sewer, gas, solid waste, environmental programs, etc.) including service offerings, rebate programs, rate structures, etc. Ability to develop strong working relationships with utility service providers. 5 years of project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a strong attention to detail and meet deadlines. Strong analytical including financial analysis and problem-solving abilities. Strong Excel skills.
