Description
Job Title: Head Cabin Leader FLSA Status: Temp - FT E Supervises: Cabin Leaders Rate of Pay: $450/ weekly Closing Date: 1/31/2026 Benefits: Temporary; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:
GENERAL DUTIES: * Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities. * Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters. * Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer. * Assist with Camper check-in and check-out. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Safety and Supervision * Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities. * Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters. * Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer. * Prepare and deliver the Head Cabin Leader camp brief at the end of the summer. * Assist with evening cabin supervision * Attend and participate in Staff Orientation. * Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, camp fires, staff meetings and staff devotions * Assist with Camper check-in and check-out. Weekly Responsibilities * Meet weekly with senior leadership and communicate needs, program changes, and concerns related to Cabin Leader staff and campers. * Encourage and support the Cabin Leader staff through prayer and one-on-one meetings. * Assume responsibility for the direct supervision of Cabin Leader staff. * Be present at the "Initial Cabin Meetings" of cabins, rotating around as able and providing support. * Assist with cabin management when and where needed. * Complete any required forms as may be related to camper or program evaluation, or health documentation. * Complete the daily entries required in the Camper Log book as needed throughout the day. Submit them for periodic review as required. Turn them in at the end of each week. * Attend Camp Out unless given the specific permission otherwise. * Teach and model appropriate counseling techniques to all counseling staff. * Implement a weekly "Unit Meeting." This meeting should include trouble shooting camper issues, briefing activities, brainstorming programs, prayer time, etc. * Check in daily with each Cabin Leader to assess needs and areas for support. * Assist in conducting all camp program activities as needed. * Serve as an Activities Specialist as needed.
* Perform all other duties and roles assigned.
* Lastly and most important:
Qualification and Education Requirements: * 21+ years of age. * Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site). * Experience providing childcare and supervision and must love being with children. * Ability to use positive behavior management techniques with campers and an ability to adapt to difficult situations with a sense of maturity and safety. * Maintain a high standard of Christian personal living and behaviors. * Be supportive of The Salvation Army's mission. Ability to reflect and model the high standards of our organization as one of the world's most distinguished human services charitable organizations. Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information.
