As Microsoft's cloud business continues togrowthe ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, inhigh volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance.We are seeking aFirmware Engineerto join our team within SCHIE, where we build the foundational firmware that powers Microsoft's Azure infrastructure-including itscutting-edgeAI accelerator silicon. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across Azure's custom silicon programs and contribute directly to the firmware stack that enables Microsoft's most advanced AI workloads.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop,debug,testand releasefirmwareforAzure's customAIsilicon programs, including developingand testingfirmware on pre-silicon platforms and post-silicon platforms

  • Collaborate with silicon, hardware,architectureand software/firmwareteams to deliver secure, production-grade firmware

  • Participate and drive SoC bring up and troubleshooting

  • Participateand support silicon's Data Center deployment and operation



Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienceor strong knowledgewith low level Ethernet

  • Proficient in embedded RUST, RUST RTOS's and toolchains

  • Experience with SoC bring-up, OS primitives, and multi-threading

  • Experience in working in pre-silicon environments

  • Proficient in C/C++.

  • Experience with one or more of the following: platform initialization, low level device drivers for peripherals/protocols such as I3C, I2C, SPI, USB, UARTs as well as Memory Management, Scheduling, Interrupts or multi-threading.

Firmware Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
