Summary Description of Position

  • Security Operations Oversight: Directs the strategic management, scheduling, and specialized training for contracted security personnel across corporate offices, ensuring 100% operational readiness and coverage.

  • Risk & Threat Mitigation: Manages enterprise-wide physical security for corporate assets and personnel by conducting rigorous risk and threat assessments to identify and neutralize vulnerabilities.

  • Policy Implementation & Compliance: Translates senior leadership vision into actionable security protocols, developing and maintaining SOPs that ensure total adherence to industry codes and regulatory mandates.

  • Emergency Response Leadership: Leads emergency response initiatives and drives continuous improvement in safety protocols to enhance the consistency, resilience, and effectiveness of corporate security operations.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills Required

Education:

  • High School or GED required.

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in criminal justice required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in law enforcement, industrial or governmental security or an equivalent combination of the same.

  • Previous management and leadership experience required.

  • Law Enforcement and/or Military Schooling a plus.

  • Must have experience in Executive Protection.

  • Must have experience in the administration and operation of: access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems.

  • Program Architecture & Administration: Skilled in the end-to-end design, development, and administration of comprehensive security and safety programs that align with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Transformational Leadership: Proven record of leading high-performing teams with a focus on exceptional customer service, continuous process improvement, and the professional development of direct reports.

  • Analytical & Critical Thinking: Leverages advanced situational analysis and critical thinking to identify mission-critical issues quickly and accurately, even in high-pressure or ambiguous environments.

  • Dynamic Workload Prioritization: Highly capable of managing complex, multi-task projects in fast-paced environments by prioritizing workflows based on urgency and strategic importance.

  • Situational Reporting & Briefing: Expert at synthesizing complex operational data into concise, actionable situation reports for leadership and stakeholders.

  • Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and specialized enterprise management software (Cornerstone, Workday, Security Management Systems) to streamline administrative and reporting workflows.

  • Proactive Hazard Identification: Maintains high situational awareness to detect irregular or unusual conditions, proactively mitigating security concerns or environmental hazards before they escalate.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and implements the overall security strategy for the corporate office complex. This includes physical security of the corporate buildings and employees as well as performing risk and threat assessments.

  • Assists Director of Security with extra protection for key employees, including members of the executive team and the Board of Directors, as deemed necessary.

  • Improves the consistency and effectiveness of onsite security and safety.

  • Manages the contract with the third-party security management company.

  • Supervise the day-to-day contract security personnel and ensure service is of the highest standards. This includes staff planning, scheduling, organizing and directing work, training personnel and recommending applicants for employment or corrective action. Instructing and enforcing safety rules and regulations. Maintains and ensures that all Security Officers meet all Vulcan Materials Company standards.

  • Ensures security patrol priorities are documented, understood and followed.

  • Organizes and conducts predetermined actions and renders first aid in emergencies such as accidents, fire and illness. Oversees emergency response.

  • Prepares and reviews periodic security reports to management.

  • Develops and implements Advanced Active Shooter Training program.

Other Requirements

  • Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology.

  • Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods.

  • Able to use common office tools and technology, such as cell/office telephone, calculator, computer, and other electronic devices.

  • Maintain required certifications, licensing and training to achieve professional competency as appropriate for the position.

  • Must be able to travel on short notice CONUS and OCONUS.
