To attract the right blend of "field-tough" and "data-driven," the job posting needs to emphasize the unique nature of Manhattan's infrastructure. Here is a polished, professional, and slightly "gritty" job description that avoids using the client name.

Job Title: Technical Field Coordinator - Steam Operations & Metering

Location: Manhattan, NY (Field-Based) Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract-to-Hire

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technical Field Coordinator to join a critical infrastructure project modernizing steam metering systems across Manhattan. This role is the vital link between high-level engineering data and the physical execution of meter replacements in some of the city's most iconic buildings.

You will spend several days a week in the field, navigating the unique landscape of NYC's mechanical rooms, conducting site surveys, and collaborating with veteran building engineers and tradespeople to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for building managers, engineers, and plumbers to schedule surveys, explain project scopes, and facilitate site visits.
  • Data Management: Maintain meticulous records of meter change-outs, site conditions, and project milestones using Microsoft Excel.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Identify on-site challenges regarding meter placement or system compatibility and relay technical requirements to the installation teams.
  • Reporting: Generate clear, professional technical reports and documentation following site visits to ensure all departments remain aligned.
  • Field Operations: Travel throughout Manhattan via public transportation with team members to conduct multiple site inspections per week.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in a field-facing or project coordination role.
  • Technical Literacy: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data organization, tracking, and reporting) and Technical Writing.
  • Communication Style: A "thick skin" and a professional demeanor. You must be comfortable working alongside long-tenured construction crews, union labor, and building staff in high-pressure environments.
  • Mobility: Comfort traveling via public transit and walking between various customer sites in an urban environment.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)

  • Familiarity with Revenue Meters or utility billing hardware.
  • Knowledge of Calibration Processes for mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Prior experience with steam systems or large-scale HVAC infrastructure.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a grounded, organized professional who is just as comfortable in a high-rise basement discussing pipe fittings with a master plumber as you are in front of a laptop presenting a status report to management. You are a problem-solver who understands that successful projects are built on clear communication and mutual respect for the trades.
