What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) Information and Requirements Management team. This role directly supports our Information Management Program and partners with our Compliance Obligations Program. In this role, you will play a critical part in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of high-quality processes that ensure effective management of ES&H information management. Your responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of robust systems that steward the programmatic quality efforts for ES&H. You may have the opportunity to support initiatives within the ES&H management system. Collaboration is essential, as you will work closely with management and members of the workforce to identify and manage ES&H operations across a variety of programs ensuring operational excellence is achieved.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Use structured systems approach that improves processes and adapts lean tools to ensure integration.
  • Facilitate and steward the Information Management Program processes in managing controlled documents and records for ES&H.
  • Designs, implements, and manage processes and tools to meet business needs and leadership expectations.
  • Provides innovative approaches to solve complex problems by developing quality-related plans and strategies for a management system framework.
  • Applies professional judgment in determining optimal application of quality management practices in the design, development, deployment, and execution of innovative quality-related systems.
  • Participate or lead cross-functional teams to facilitate solution implementation and improvements aligned to mission and strategic objectives.
  • Lead, manage, and support information and requirement management program efforts.
  • Document compliance obligations and requirements and evaluate competing characteristics between system and implementation elements and determine the most effective integrated solution.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and reports to a variety of audiences to include ES&H leadership.
  • Collaborate across ES&H in identifying and implementing continual improvement efforts.

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range

$74,700 - $144,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus three (3) or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience in the following:
    • Management systems, lean/six sigma, information management, and/or program/project management.
    • IT tool(s) for controlled documents and records.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire

  • Knowledge of and experience in process analysis and development; management system programs and quality assurance principles.
  • Familiarity with environment, safety and health processes and requirements.
  • Experience with ISO standards 9001, 14001, 45001 and/or DOE O 414.1E.
  • Strong organizational, team building, facilitation, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills to work with multiple levels of management and members of the workforce.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and attention to detail skills.
  • Demonstrated success in organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with information technology systems and software, for example, Confluence, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Work independently and within a teaming environment.
  • Active DOE L-level or DOD equivalent security clearance.
About Our Team

The ES&H Information and Requirements Management department provides integrated processes and centralized resources to support Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H). It contributes to both tactical and strategic initiatives through a dynamic systems approach, addressing areas such as requirements and obligations, ESHield and data integration, measures and metrics, artificial intelligence projects, IT alignment, information handling, and change implementation.

Posting Duration

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by the DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
