BS or MS in Ecology, Forestry. Natural Resources, Wildlife, etc.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, be capable of working independently and as part of a team and be able to troubleshoot problems with equipment. Basic laboratory and data management skills are required. A valid driver's license is required. Experience with forest measurement and ecophysiology techniques and equipment is highly desirable, including use of sap flow sensors, soil moisture sensors, thermocouples, dataloggers, infrared gas analyzers, pressure chambers, etc.

| Position Summary |
This position is a highly responsible technical research support position at
SREL. Incumbent is responsible for assisting with the oversight and collection of data related to studies in forest ecosystem ecology, ecophysiology, ecohydrology, fire ecology, and biogeochemistry. The primary duties will focus on: (1) measurements of ecosystem processes and physiology in forest stands, including tree water use, above- and belowground growth parameters and indices, tree and soil gas exchange, and soil sampling. This includes assistance with general lab and field experiment organization and maintenance, as well as assistance with data management, analysis, and manuscript, proposal, and report preparation; (2) experimental maintenance, including monitoring and control of experimental treatments, herbicide application, brush cutting, and other activities; (3) fabrication and repair of sensors and measurement devices. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating and training technicians, students, and collaborating scientists.

This is a field position. Outdoor working conditions can occasionally be harsh (i.e., hot and humid). Experimental maintenance, including herbicide application, fertilizer application, brush cutting, mowing, digging, excavating, and other activities are required.
