Job Highlights

We are seeking a Process Engineer or Senior Process Engineer to support safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our Specialty chemical manufacturing plant. This role may be filled at theSenior level based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capability.

The Process Engineer partners with Operations, Reliability, PSM, and Environmental teams to support process safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Process engineers operate with guidance and increasing responsibility, while Senior-level engineers serve as technical authorities for assigned processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support or lead PSM, MOC, PHA, incident investigations, audits, and environmental permit compliance.
  • Investigate process upsets, deviations, quality issues, and operability challenges using plant data and structured root cause analysis.
  • Monitor process performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, yield, energy use, and operating stability.
  • Support or implement approved process improvements to improve safety, reliability, and long-term performance.
  • Partner with Reliability, Maintenance, and Operations to address process-related contributors to equipment issues.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures, control narratives, and process documentation aligned with PSM and operating requirements.
  • Provide technical support to Operators and assist with operational coverage as needed.

Additional Expectations for Senior Level

Senior Process Engineers independently own process safety compliance and process integrity for assigned units, lead complex root cause analyses, define permanent corrective actions, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Experience / Skills

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Experience

  • Process Engineer: 3-5 years of process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing or refining environments; familiarity with OSHA PSM.
  • Senior Engineer: 5-10 years of hands-on process engineering experience in OSHA PSM-covered environments; operations experience preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Working to advanced (Senior) knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals, unit operations, and process equipment.
  • Ability to analyze process data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
  • Experience developing operating procedures and process documentation.
  • Strong collaboration skills across Operations, Reliability, PSM, and Environmental teams.

  • Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program. In accordance with Washington state pay transparency requirements, the pay range for the Process Engineer is $94,700 - $157,800. The pay range for the Senior Process Engineer is $107,800 - $179,600. Where an individual falls within these ranges will depend on the hiring budget, internal equity, and the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
