Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Associate / Vice President, Foreign Exchange Sales will provide high-touch FX coverage to an assigned portfolio of institutional clients, with a primary focus on hedge funds. This role is responsible for originating, developing, and executing FX solutions across spot, forwards, options, and related products, while delivering best-in-class execution, market insight, and risk discipline. The position requires close collaboration with trading, origination, research, and operational partners to drive revenue growth while maintaining the highest standards of control, compliance, and client service.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive foreign exchange coverage to an assigned institutional client portfolio, with emphasis on hedge fund clients
  • Market and sell the full suite of FX products, including cash, forwards, options, and structured solutions
  • Proactively grow the client franchise by identifying new business opportunities while deepening existing client relationships
  • Deliver best-in-class FX execution by leveraging RBC Capital Markets' trading capabilities and liquidity
  • Provide timely market color, trade ideas, and risk insights tailored to client strategies and objectives
  • Ensure accurate, clear, and effective communication between sales, trading, and internal partners regarding pricing, risk, and market conditions
  • Promote collaboration across RBC Capital Markets divisions to identify cross-selling and balance-sheet optimization opportunities
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure all dealings with counterparties are handled fairly and professionally
  • Monitor and manage expenses in line with established budgets
  • Proactively identify operational risks, control deficiencies, and process improvements within the business
  • Review and comply with all firm policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control standards applicable to business activities
  • Escalate operational risk events, control issues, or breaches promptly to management and relevant risk and control functions, as required

Job Specifications / Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and FX products, including spot, forwards, options, and related derivatives
  • Prior sales, marketing, or client-facing experience within FX or capital markets
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain institutional client relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset
  • Highly developed interpersonal, motivational, and influencing skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading floor environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to risk and controls

Authorities, Impact, and Risk

  • Authorized to price FX transactions within established risk and credit parameters
  • Accountable for gains or losses associated with executed transactions
  • Responsible for ensuring client credit limits are respected at all times
  • Ensures accurate transmission of market risk information between sales, trading, and clients
  • Plays an active role in maintaining a strong risk and control culture

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $165,000 - $225,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and businessneeds.Thissalary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
