This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Ag Services business across a defined regional market to achieve product line, profitability, and growth objectives. Leads and develops a team of Farm Managers and support staff to ensure effective delivery of property management, real estate sales, and related services. Accountable for the financial performance, operational efficiency, and risk management of regional farm real estate activities. Cultivates key client relationships, drives new business development, and collaborates across Wealth Management, Insurance Group, and Bank divisions to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leads and develops Farm Managers and Administrative Assistants across multiple locations, providing direction, coaching, and oversight. Responsible for staffing, training, performance management, and team development to ensure consistent execution of Company standards and operational goals.
- Participates in the development of regional goals & objectives and is responsible for monitoring variances and controlling the budget.
- Prepares/analyzes financial and business operations reports; oversees Management Control and Real Estate Trust Investment Committee activity and reports regional results.
- Directs the planning, development and implementation of necessary policies/procedures within the department for optimal operation.
- Manages real estate property and financial receivable assets, and performs real estate sales with broker guidance, following all related administrative and investment policies and provisions of all governing documents, including assessing property leases/contracts with respect to client's goals, risk profile, and financial situation; negotiates leases/contracts; manages execution of terms; assesses appropriate types & levels of insurance; and monitors environmental issues and risk management.
- Obtains proper owner authorization and variables for property sale; and manages the processes with other brokers and attorneys to complete the sale.
- Manages the acceptance process for new real estate-related assets into Trust accounts, and for new property management and real estate brokerage agency agreements, following all relevant division policies and procedures for environmental status and authority assessment, documentation and recordkeeping requirements.
- Performs real estate-oriented advisory and special services for fee income, including obtaining proper authorization for requested task, assigning scope of service and setting fee; performing services according to client specifications (Trust documentation, etc.); and billing/collection of fees, and posting to correct account.
- Generates new business for the real estate product line, and in Wealth Management, Insurance Group, and Bank areas by contacting potential customers, responding to requests/inquiries, implementing appropriate sales techniques, and making qualified referrals. Achieves new business fee and cross-referral goals.
- Maintains awareness of economic, financial and industrial trends as well as area competitive factors affecting all types of real estate assets.
- Promotes continuity of customer relationships among accounts by coverage and back-up assistance.
- Encourages a high level of morale and effort within the organization and provides leadership and training necessary for the development of other professional and support staff.
- Participates in special projects or task force assignments for planning and development activities.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, practical knowledge of crop production and marketing and the equivalent of five plus years of experience in industry.
- Illinois Real Estate Broker License (Managing Broker License preferred); AFM preferred; ALC a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience required; experience managing hybrid or multi-location teams strongly preferred.
Skills:
- High level of analytical skills to conduct farm account analysis and maintain account's progress in consideration of market trends, interest rates, economic conditions and other factors.
- Ability to effectively manage and supervise personnel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external customers and potential customers in a professional manner.
