Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Technician to join our team for the development and construction of commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and supporting the project team in various construction-related tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation & Inspections:
- Assist in the preparation of construction sites, ensuring they are ready for work to begin.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that construction activities comply with design plans and specifications.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and assist in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Technical Support:
- Support the construction team with technical knowledge of materials, tools, and machinery used in commercial building construction.
- Review construction blueprints, sketches, and other specifications to understand project requirements.
- Assist in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of construction machinery and equipment.
- Material Handling & Inventory:
- Help manage materials, supplies, and tools necessary for each phase of construction.
- Assist in inventory control, ensuring that the correct materials are available and that surplus is properly stored.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely deliveries of construction materials.
- Quality Control:
- Assist with quality control inspections to ensure all construction work meets the required standards.
- Verify that all work aligns with project specifications and regulatory guidelines.
- Report any issues or non-compliance to the supervisor for corrective action.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with construction workers, engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure seamless communication and progress on the job site.
- Assist in coordinating activities and resolving any technical issues that may arise during construction.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations at all times.
- Assist in the implementation of safety training and procedures for all team members.
- Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate's degree or certification in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in a construction technician or similar role, preferably in commercial building construction.
- Hands-on experience with commercial building construction processes and equipment.
- Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of construction materials, tools, and machinery.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Certifications:
- OSHA Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
Capable of standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods.
