Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, physical structures, and grounds. Additionally, this individual operates and maintains the boiler, power equipment, heating and cooling systems, and manufacturing machines and processes along with performing general and structural renovation and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair all plant electrical wiring up to 480 volts, lights, and controls.

  • Interpret and lay out electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagrams.

  • Install, maintain, and repair all hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.

  • Install and maintain plumbing and all other piping systems.

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor the boiler, compressors, pumps, and all heating and cooling systems.

  • Perform all trade skills as required, including tasks at ground level, confined space, and elevated heights up to 35 feet.

  • Perform plant start-up, shutdown, and plant check as required.

  • Operate forklifts and various power tools.

  • Perform activities associated with the handling of hazardous waste, including, but not limited to, container labeling, familiarization with emergency procedures, and completion of initial/annual hazardous waste training.

  • Monitoring critical facility equipment.

  • Relocate large equipment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to complete the job without direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of self or others.

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team environment with management and coworkers.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and/or verbal procedures, processes, and instructions.

  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.

  • Demonstrated computer literacy.

  • Willingness to learn and accept new assignments as required.

Work Experience

Required

  • 5+ years maintenance experience including hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air, electrical, and steam systems or an Associate's Degree and 3-5 years of maintenance experience.

Education

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Associates degree in a technical field

Certifications

Required

  • Technical training in the following: hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, electrical, steam and power systems, etc.

Preferred

  • Tradesman specific certification (i.e. apprentice pipefitter, millwright, electrician)
