Data Scientist Neuro-Memory and Aging Full Time 87777BR Job Summary Under direct supervision of Dr. Jet Vonk (PhD PhD), the Data Scientist will analyze and interpret research datasets for ongoing Vonk Lab projects with a focus on cognitive tests, connected speech samples, and neuroimaging data. The Data Scientist will primarily work with databases that involve the decline of language and cognitive abilities in individuals with neurogenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and Primary Progressive Aphasia. They will be using statistical software to generate clear reports, tables, and figures for manuscripts and presentations. The Data Scientist will support manuscript development through figure creation, write-up support, and revisions, and will collaborate with internal team members as well as UCSF and external collaborators to process, clean, and analyze shared datasets as needed. They will also develop, document, and maintain analysis code and utilities, manage active coding pipelines, and ensure data integrity, secure handling, and compliance when working with databases and data repositories. Additionally, the Data Scientist will aid building automated quality-check workflows for audio transcription files and supporting multilingual (including Chinese-language) audio/text processing pipelines. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $63,700 - $84,000 (Annual Rate). Our work integrates linguistics, epidemiology, cognitive neuroscience, and computational methods to improve early detection, differential diagnosis, and longitudinal monitoring of conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia, including primary progressive aphasia. We work with large, multimodal research datasets (speech/audio, transcripts, cognitive and clinical measures, and neuroimaging/biomarkers) and collaborate closely with clinicians and research teams across UCSF and external consortia.
