Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol Guard in Saint Paul, MN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a higher education location, you will monitor and patrol campus areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will greet students, staff, and visitors, respond to requests for assistance, and document observations with clear communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by following Allied Universal procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of campus buildings, classrooms, residence areas, parking areas, and perimeter spaces as assigned to help to deter unwanted activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points and public areas, observe for unusual conditions, and report maintenance issues, hazards, and security-related concerns to the appropriate contacts.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and requests for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, including helping with de-escalation and coordinating with campus officials and/or local responders as needed.
  • Complete detailed activity logs and incident reports, document observations, and communicate post orders, updates, and critical information during shift briefings and/or pass-downs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Pepper spray certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Baton certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
