As the Manager, Merchandising Strategy & Planning, you will play a critical role in shaping how we bring the right products to pet parents at the right time. This is a high-impact, highly visible role on our Strategy & Transformation team, focused on driving operational excellence, enabling smarter merchandising decisions, and accelerating key strategic initiatives. What You'll Do Strategy & Operations Drive go-to-market strategy and operations by defining plans and processes that operationalize our business and product strategy Establish and manage a Merchandising "Control Tower" to coordinate initiatives, streamline execution, and improve cross-functional visibility Implement and optimize our reinvented Category Review assortment planning process Drive execution excellence across our 52-week go-to-market calendar Ensure functional partners are aligned on key objectives and timelines Launch & Optimize Business Capabilities Own end-to-end rollout plans for new tools, processes, and capabilities Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and other teams to drive adoption and impact Develop KPIs, track performance, measure results, and continuously improve processes Data-Driven Problem Solving Evaluate operational challenges using data-driven analysis Identify root causes and develop strategic recommendations Drive continuous optimization to improve key merchandising processes Leverage tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI (preferred) Project & Transformation Leadership Oversee strategic projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives Establish KPIs and success metrics for transformation initiatives Lead cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and innovation Develop change management strategies to support adoption of new processes and technologies Communicate progress, challenges, and results to senior leadership Team Leadership Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team (2-4 direct reports as the team scales) Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement What You Bring Bachelor's degree required 4-6 years of experience in retail, merchandising, project management, retail analytics, or related areas Strong knowledge of retail merchandising systems, processes, and cross-functional dynamics Proven experience managing complex, high-visibility projects Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and presentation abilities Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels Experience developing and managing high-performing teams Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL, Tableau, or Power BI preferred This role reports to the Sr. Director of Merchandising Strategy & Planning and offers the opportunity to shape the future of merchandising at Petco while driving meaningful impact for pets and pet parents everywhere. #LI-CS1 #CORP Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act. The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.
