Drafting Technician C

Overall Purpose:
Under semi direct supervision, to perform drafting, field work and other tasks of moderate complexity requiring basic skills and knowledge in the electrical and civil engineering disciplines.

Drafting Technician C:
1. The technician will use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to prepare drawings and other documents required for the development and completion of a project as instructed.

2. Reviews, revises or corrects drawings and other documents as instructed.

3. Makes field trips as instructed with others and performs manual tasks when requested for the purpose of determining layout and design and obtaining necessary information and measurements.

4. Uses computers and copiers as directed to perform assigned work.

5. Drafts job material lists in CAD and drawing manifests pertaining to the assigned work as instructed.

6. As instructed, searches files and records to obtain necessary information to complete a project.

7. Maintains job records and files pertaining to the assigned work.

8. Occasionally contacts other sections, departments or others to obtain or exchange information of a moderate nature pertaining to the assigned work.

9. Keeps supervisor generally informed of activities when acting without detailed instructions.

10. Performs other work as required or as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Successful completion of an Associates degree from a Technical Trade school in Computer Aided Drafting, Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology or 2 years of equivalent drafting experience.

3. 3 years experience as a Drafting Technician C to advance to Drafting Technician B.

4. 2 years experience as a Drafting Technician B to advance to Senior Drafting Technician.

5. Must pass the company administered standardized test (TECH).

6. Must demonstrate moderate skill in measuring, drawing and lettering using CAD techniques.

7. Must demonstrate reasonable proficiency for making mathematics computations necessary to perform the duties of the job.

8. Must demonstrate a general knowledge of Duquesne Light Company safety handbook.

9. Must have the ability to identify colors on engineering drawing mark-ups and draft linework using common layer colors by drawing type as specified in the DLC SubstationDrawing Guidelines.

10. Must have a valid State Driver's License.
