Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/yr

Position Summary: The Medical Foster Care Supervisor will provide supervision to four Case Planners supporting families within the Bronx. The foster care program is prepared to deal with the widest range of child welfare situations-from temporary situations that allow birth families to address issues until they can be reunited, to specialized homes with highly trained foster parents for children who need constant care for chronic medical and developmental conditions, or children reacting to trauma.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Work with a dynamic team of professionals including nurses and social workers in our foster care program for children with special medical needs.
  • Overall operation of a unit of case/social workers providing services aimed at meeting permanency for children in foster care.
  • Daily supervision of unit staff members.
  • Oversight of utilization of agency and community resources that serve the children and families.
  • Work with other professional staff, foster parents, birth parents, and children.
  • Prepare statistics, reports, and other data as required.
  • Participate in case reviews, staff training, and planning sessions as appropriate.
  • Share late night coverage on rotating basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Licensed Master Social Worker required; LCSW preferred.
  • Five years post-MSW experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of foster care and adoption system.

  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and to relate to birth parents, foster parents and children.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.
