HOURS/PAY/BENEFITS:
Internships and externships at NCSL may be either paid or unpaid, depending on availability. Candidates may receive either academic credit from their institution or compensation from NCSL.
For candidates seeking academic credit, the number of hours required will vary based on institutional guidelines. Many colleges and universities offer academic credit for internships or externships. It is the sole responsibility of the student and their institution to determine eligibility and to arrange for credit in accordance with school requirements.
When funding permits, NCSL offers compensation of up to $19.29 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis. Paid interns or externs typically work 15-20 hours per week during the academic year. Full-time opportunities (up to 12 weeks) may be available during the summer. Interns and externs are not eligible for NCSL employee benefits but may accrue sick leave in accordance with applicable policies.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Comms/Digital Content Intern supports the formatting, publishing and optimization of digital content across our website. This role assists with basic SEO tasks, page creation and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and consistency. The intern will work closely with the web production manager and editing teams in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering clear, accessible information. This position reports to the Web Production Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is mostly performed in an office environment, on or off-site, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Team members utilize standard office equipment such as copy machines, laptops, printers, scanners, and smartphones.
