POSITION SUMMARY: To prepare tissue specimens for pathologic exams to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment according to established protocols (CAP and CLIA). EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of formal training program and/or ASCP certification required. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a Histology Department preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS: Certified as a HT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred. Must be able to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team and staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and assist in meeting the patient's needs.
