Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Performs necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment and facility.
  • Ensure efficient and effective utilization of equipment and tool resources to minimize waste, downtime and unit cost.
  • Problem solves issues concerning equipment operation and manufacturing processes where these relate to maximizing output.
  • As an active member of the Maintenance Team, serve as a resource to other team members.
  • Functions as part of the technical resources for the on-site staff.
  • By use of maintenance software, accurately create, track, and close all work orders, parts orders, and inventory control.
  • Provide coverage for plant operations during all plant production periods, sharing equally in regular and weekend overtime requirements as well as coverage during periods of other team member vacations and absences.
  • Comply with all 5S and World Class Manufacturing initiatives (Cross Training, moving to the work).
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures related to safety.
  • Support all ISO 9001-2000 Standards and Quality Objectives.
  • Comply with all other Company policies and procedures including meeting all attendance requirements.
  • Performs other projects/duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to lift up to 100 lbs is required.
  • This position may require prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing, and speaking.
  • Must be able to hold, touch, feel, and manipulate with hands, product and equipment in a safe manner. Manual dexterity is required.
  • Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must have 5-7 years of experience in Industrial maintenance, preferably in high quality cartons, e.g., tobacco, pharmaceuticals, or cosmetics packaging
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for consideration.
  • Experience in a gravure printing facility highly desirable.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, and gears.
  • Must be proficient in all phases of mechanical troubleshooting, hydraulics, and pneumatic equipment including repairs and replacement of gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of PLC's, motor controls circuits, and experience troubleshooting DC and AC circuits, ranging from 24 VDC to 480 Volts AC.
  • Ability to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schematic, or schedule form.
  • Must be proficient in the operation of automated equipment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to rotate shifts as required.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Must be available to work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others in a team environment.
  • Knowledgeable and able to understand a computer and programs.
