Position Highlights

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is seeking a Research Scientist III to support research project(s) in Dr. Miranti's laboratory. The project involves elucidating the mechanism by which GPR1/chemerin promotes prostate cancer metastasis.



  • This is an Extended Temporary (ETE) position with a 2-year duration from the start date.

Duties & Responsibilities Research Execution:
  • Establish key molecular genetic and cell biology experimental protocols.
  • Independently perform experiments, interpret data, and analyze results for prostate cancer metastasis mechanisms.
  • Performs laboratory tasks such as maintaining necessary cell lines.
  • Collaborate with Engineering lab to develop organ chips to study metastasis, including supplying cells and reagents.
  • Develop and establish functional timelines to complete assigned work to meet the requirements of the research obligations.

Data Analysis:

  • Prepares data for summaries, reports, presentations to share research results.
  • Conducts literature review.
  • Contributes to the writing of reports and papers for publication, in collaboration with the principal investigator and other professional personnel.
  • Trains junior lab members in equipment operation and research techniques.
  • Works with PI to assist in grant writing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of molecular biology, prostate cancer biology, metastasis, tumor microenvironments.
  • Ability to effectively prepare scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering oral presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and conduct research in an ethical, objective, and unbiased manner.
  • Demonstrated experience working with bioengineered organ chips.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related field or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in cancer biology.
