Electrical Controls Engineer II

ICON is looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer II to support ICON's R&D development of next generation robotic systems for government/defense customers. As an Electrical Controls Engineer at ICON, You will be responsible for designing the necessary electrical systems inside our 3D printing products to ensure stable, secure, safe electrical systems adhering to industry-accepted best practices. The Senior Electrical Controls Engineer is accountable for the technical quality of the electrical systems along with all relevant documentation. This role is based at ICON's Austin, TX lab and will report to the Sr. Director of R&D Defense Programs.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Designing and implementing system electrical features as aligning with product team roadmaps.
  • Select sensors and components for new engineering projects.
  • Creating and documenting detailed layouts, schematics, P&ID's for manufacturing and diagnostics
  • Creating detailed wire harnesses and layout diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical systems.
  • Develop continuous improvement plans for electrical systems.
  • Document product selection criteria and test plans.
  • Developing electrical standards which adhere to industry best practice.
  • Ensuring all the members of the team have a proper understanding of the principles, practices and standards of electrical controls.
  • Working with the product team to track the quality and regular reporting to stakeholders.
  • Proactive communication and escalation of code quality or related technical risks, issues and other relevant information.
  • Ensuring standards and guidelines are automated as much as possible to provide regular and timely feedback on the quality of electrical changes.
  • Building relationships with external stakeholders and acts as a two-way interface between the Electrical team and external stakeholders such as Firmware, Software, and Hardware.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • B.S. in Engineering or a similar field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with and designing electrical systems for industrial automation equipment.
  • Experience with electrical safety design and safety standards.



PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



  • Experience working with industrial safety systems.
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatic system experience
