Program Details

  • Duration: 10-week internship fromMay 18 - July 24, 2026
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Work Environment: Hybrid - remote work from the state of North Carolina with onsite events at our Durham campus
  • Residency Requirement: Interns must reside in the state of North Carolina for the duration of the program
  • Experience: Hands-on project work that supports our customers and strengthens communities across North Carolina
  • Mentorship: Interns are paired with a mentor and receive regular feedback to support their development

What You'll Do

Join our Pharmacy Professional Engagement and Quality team, which collaborates with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes. Through strategic meetings and actionable insights, we advance quality measures and cost-saving initiatives, enabling pharmacists to practice at the top of their profession.

As a Pharmacy Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience by:

Actively participating in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) meetings, reviewing specialty clinical programs and pharmacy claims reports.

  • Supporting community pharmacy partnerships to deliver actionable results.
  • Assisting with pharmacy operations and prior authorization criteria review.
  • Making meaningful contributions that drive better health outcomes.

What You Bring

  • Currently enrolled in your second or third year of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) -approved Doctor of Pharmacy program as of May 2025.
  • Strong curiosity, drive, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent time management and communication skills

Compensation:

  • Rising Sophomore: $20/hr
  • Rising Junior/Senior $22/hr
  • Masters / JD: $29/hr
  • MBA / PharmD: $36/hr

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.

*Based on annual corporate goal achievement and individual performance.
