Scope of Position

This highly motivated individual, as part of the Sustaining Engineering department, will be responsible for setting the standard for CAD design and guiding the rest of the team to meet those high standards.

This position reports to Sustaining Engineering Manager. This role is hybrid and is based out of Fort Worth, TX.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently create and manage revisions for inventor models and drawings
  • Work with Operations and Planning to ensure that we have fully dimensioned drawings for upcoming work orders
  • Work with the Sales team on creating new custom designs as required
  • Utilize the ECN process to make Engineering changes including updates to work instructions, bills of materials, models and drawings.
  • Work with the Product Managers, and Buyers to ensure that ECNs are implemented with little impact to excess or obsolete inventory
  • Oversee the CAD work being done by other designers and help train on best practices and check work for mistakes or omissions
  • Work within various ERP systems to pull data, consolidate and make necessary changes or mass uploads. (Epicor, QAD, and Odoo)
  • Work with the Production Engineering team, NPD and Operators on making on the spot design improvements and use the deviation process to record changes then follow up with an ECN
  • Help as needed for modeling building improvements, test stands, and updating the master floorplan.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or other Company management.
  • Travel Requirements: <=25% as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-year degree, CAD Certificate
  • Minimum of 10 years of CAD and Manufacturing experience
  • Autodesk, Solidworks or related design software
  • Firm understanding of basic Engineering and Design principles
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ERP / MRP related software experience
  • Expert understanding of manufacturing and design principles
  • Bi-lingual - English / Spanish

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Fort Worth location (Monday - Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

  • Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
