12 Week Summer Internship in NRECA's Arlington, VA office

You must be an Undergraduate Student who will be a Junior or Senior in the Autumn of 2026 to be considered for this program.

The Strategic Program Management (SPM) team partners closely with business and technology stakeholders to define and execute the Insurance & Financial Services (I&FS) strategy. We support the delivery of bestinclass employee benefits administration solutions for our cooperative members and their employees, driving key initiatives through strong project management, business analysis, and data analysis. We are looking for a self-motivated intern to:

  • Participate in key activities across the technology product lifecycle, including business process reviews, user acceptance testing (UAT), project task coordination, and data analysis.
  • Support major I&FS strategic initiatives such as technology upgrades, platform transitions, benefits administration system enhancements, and compliance-related projects.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand user needs and contribute to defining business requirements.
  • Assist in the development of project documentation, presentations, reports, and other deliverables that support project execution.
  • Provide support on departmental projects, including organizing materials, tracking tasks, and completing administrative activities as needed.
  • Update and maintain the departmental SharePoint site, helping ensure content is accurate and easy to navigate.
  • Attend NRECA and I&FS learning, engagement, and culture-building activities (e.g., staff meetings, team-building sessions, enrichment events, iCARE, Service Excellence).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Rising college junior or senior majoring in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher (no academic or corrective action on record); transcripts must be provided.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) in the day-to-day tasks.
  • Operate various office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, printer, or other job-related equipment.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes and quickly incorporate them into daily work.
  • Apply good judgment when escalating issues and requesting assistance.
  • Organize and manage time effectively.
  • Pay close attention to detail and review work for quality.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Be able to organize data for analysis and communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with business process mapping.
  • Familiarity with Jira or other issue tracking software.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
