Job Description
OVERVIEW A CNC Machinist in the James Ford Bell Technical Center Machine Shop will fabricate and assemble food process or packaging equipment, parts, prototypes, extrusion dies, cutters, formers, tooling, or fixtures to specifications required on detailed engineering design drawings. The CNC Machinist will interpret and sometimes create two and three dimensional engineering drawings using computer aided design software such as Solidworks. The CNC machinist will import the design geometry into computer aided manufacturing software such as Mastercam or Insight, then program CNC 3, 4 and 5 axis milling, turning, additive manufacturing, and wire electrical discharge machine tools to fabricate the parts as required. - Basic CNC knowledge of 2 and 3 axis operations.
- Creates basic Mastercam Programs.
- Basic introduction to Solidworks CAD.
- Basic introduction to metals, plastics, elastomers, composites.
- Begins work on completion of "Shop Core" on-boarding skills.
- Supports small equipment assemblies with senior level machinist.
- Beginning exposure to power transmission components.
- Machines complex parts or assembles precision process equipment up to $50,000.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree or high school diploma + 5 years of relevant work experience
- Proficient in all manual machining operations (grinding, turning, milling, drilling).
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools.
- Demonstrates proficiency in basic hand and power tools.
- Proficiency in selection and use of various fasteners.
- Demonstrated math competencies (fractions, decimals, geometry, trigonometry, metrics).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year in machining and/or fabrication
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Mastercam
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
- International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

The salary range for this position is $50400.00 - $69400.00 / Annually.
