Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology. Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline).
  • Open to current sophomores or juniors
  • Security clearance is not required for this position; however, the candidate should be eligible to obtain one in the future due to the nature of the work performed.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Overview:
The Material and Procurement Intern will support the Manufacturing Planning and Supply Chain team in ensuring program and customer delivery requirements are met. This role offers hands-on experience in production planning, material control, supplier management, and workflow coordination. The intern will assist in various activities, including cross-functional collaboration, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing purchase requisitions, supplier negotiations, and procurement processes.
  • Support the development of material estimates and procurement documentation for proposals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program teams, functional areas, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to supply chain efforts to monitor supplier performance and ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Conduct research and assist in identifying cost-saving alternatives and new supply sources.
  • Participate in the development of departmental budgets, KPIs, and metrics.
  • Analyze data to support financial decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Learn and apply cycle time management and resource planning techniques.
  • Help track critical suppliers and assess their impact on customer deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Interest in supply chain management, procurement, and material planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing conditions and priorities.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and applying new concepts in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier management
  • Experience with data analysis tools or ERP systems
