This position reports to: Receiving Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: A Blend Mixer operator 1 is responsible for operating a single machine. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to communicate effectively in a team environment. Must be able to follow instructions (written & verbal), safely and accurately operate bakery equipment and maintain GMP standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review schedule and paperwork - review daily throwing schedule and compile recipe/lot tracking paperwork
  • Stage ingredients - stage bags/boxes per recipe/lot tracking sheet, logging lot numbers as staged & weigh hand-scale ingredients or pre-blend buckets as required.
  • Blend Ingredients - follow mixer computer recipe, adding ingredients from tanks (via valves/augers) or staged bags/buckets. Verify lot numbers, hit "accept" after each ingredient and initial paperwork. After blending cycle, place totes under mixer, dump product until empty, and label totes with batch details.
  • Sample and Label - Take a sample from each batch, label/date it, and place it in the samples box.
  • Maintain Cleanliness - Empty mixer trash bin as needed. Sweep area between batches. At shift end, sweep/wash floor, empty trash bin, and place boxes in cardboard bailer. Make bail if full.
  • Paperwork: Complete, sign, date, and initial recipe/lot tracking sheet with partner. Submit to blend lead's desk.
  • Fork lift experience required

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

Prefer previous safety training.

Forklift experience required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Although the physical requirements vary each day, the employee must have the ability to sit (5%), stand (40%), walk (10%), kneel/squat (20%) and bend (25%) for 12 hours. Ability to lift approximately up to a maximum of 50 pounds, several times per day from floor to waist. Ability to reach from 10 inches approximately 2 hours per day, and up to 60 inches approximately 1 hour per day. Ability to climb stairs approximately 8 times per day. Performs repetitive motion, using the hands and arms approximately 8 hours per day and the back (twisting) approximately 8 hours per day. Must be able to perform pushing & pulling of the upper body approximately several times a day and the whole body several times of day. May push and pull pallet jacks weighing 850 pounds. May walk on unprotected heights, catwalks, etc. occasionally every week. Cannot be afraid of heights. Must be in good physical condition.

OTHER ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS NOT LISTED ABOVE INCLUDE:

Organizational skills, read and follow formulations, calculating batter time and length, ability to record batter and exceptions, computer exceptions, ability to watch two machines and know what stage of mixing each is in, ability to make batter adjustments, add weight together (ounces & pounds). Ability to identify ingredients in and out of packing containers, hearing, understanding instructions and seeing.

MACHINES/TOOLS USED:

Scrapers, box knife, scoops, bucket, scale, hair net and hearing protection, safety glasses and bump cap.
