Job Summary
Under general guidance from Test Management and Senior Test Technicians, the Test Technician supports product development by coordinating and performing laboratory testing activities. This role ensures compliance with design verification requirements, test specifications, and recognized industry standards. The Test Technician maintains a safe, compliant, and efficient test environment while applying established engineering principles to support continuous improvement, internal efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Job Responsibilities
Support design engineers with development activities, including component evaluation, prototype assembly, and verification testing
Execute product and prototype testing in accordance with approved test specifications, procedures, and industry standards
Analyze test data and results to confirm compliance with performance and design requirements
Prepare, review, and maintain accurate test reports, records, and documentation
Perform safety and EMC certification testing in accordance with UL, CSA, and IEC standards
Generate formal certification reports for submission to third-party agencies
Travel to external accredited test facilities (domestic and international) as required to support certification efforts
Design, build, and maintain test setups and fixtures, including mechanical construction and electrical wiring
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic and electrical circuits using schematics under engineer or senior technician guidance
Perform precision soldering of surface-mount components (1206, 0805, 0603, and 0402 packages)
Set up and operate laboratory instrumentation including DMMs, oscilloscopes, ammeters, power meters, thermometers, and LabVIEW-based systems
Assist with ISO/IEC 17025 audits and assessments supporting UL and SGS laboratory accreditations
Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or related discipline) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Solid understanding of standard engineering theories, concepts, principles, and techniques
Working knowledge of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) design and operation
Proficiency in operating laboratory test equipment and interpreting measurement data
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with UL, CSA, and IEC compliance testing, particularly for VFD or drive products
Experience supporting safety and EMC certification programs
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Work Environment
Laboratory-based role with occasional travel to accredited test facilities
Emphasis on safety, precision, and regulatory compliance
