Job Overview:

The Ultrasound Technologist provides patient services using diagnostic breast ultrasound equipment and is competent in the production and analysis of ultrasound images utilized by Radiologists for patient diagnosis and treatment. In addition, the individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of breast ultrasound services. Cross coverage for other JW Breast center facilities. Also, responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments

Qualifications:

Required:

• Graduate of accredited school of sonography
• AHA BLS

Preferred:Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or ARRT for Breast Sonography

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):

• Certified by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

• Per Diem
• Day

Essential Functions:

• Prepares & sends specimens to labs in the absence of the secretary.
• Prepares exam rooms before patient enters & cleans room following patient's exit.
• Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures by assisting them onto the table & instructing them in the procedure that is being performed.
• Selects & records appropriate images for the permanent
• The sonographer is competent in the production & analysis of ultrasound images used by physicians for patient diagnosis & treatment.
• In addition, the individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion & judgement in the performance of sonographic services.
