SSOE is looking to hire a Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will engage in the designing, engineering, and implementing of designs for cutting-edge process/chemical systems within state-of-the-art semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing facilities serving global leaders in technology. As a Process Engineer at SSOE, you will collaborate with fellow Process Engineers, Design teams, and Senior Project Managers to develop innovative solutions for intricate and challenging designs, incorporating the latest design methodologies while ensuring adherence to specifications and timely project completion.

Responsibilities

    Responsible for producing process chemical system design activities including P&ID development, process flow diagrams, and control philosophy documentation
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations related to fluid flow, pressure drop, heat transfer, and mass balance for systems including high purity water, specialty gases, and hazardous chemical handling.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and civil disciplines to integrate system designs, resolving interface conflicts via integrated project delivery (IPD) methodology.
  • Support construction administration and startup by reviewing shop drawings, addressing RFIs, evaluating submittals, and participating in site walks to validate installation against design intent.
  • Conduct quality control checks and participate in peer reviews to ensure adherence to company procedures and regulatory standards before project deliverable submission
  • Consult with supervisor or lead engineer to screen assignments for unusual or difficult problems and select appropriate methods and techniques to apply and estimate the hours required for the approach.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by mentoring junior engineers and documenting lessons learned for incorporation into standard work processes.
  • Manage project deliverables to ensure timely updates and version control under our change management protocols.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution, qualifying for professional engineer (PE) licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Professional Engineering (PE) license. This credential may qualify candidates for the higher end of the salary range, depending on experience and overall qualifications.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for process engineering deliverables, including 3D modeling and drafting for process piping systems is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in chemical process system design encompassing fluid transfer, heat exchange, specialty gas systems, and hazardous wastewater treatment.
  • Strong working knowledge of P&ID development, control valve and instrumentation specification, and control philosophy documentation.
  • Experience with the design and engineering of systems that consist of fluid transfer, heat exchange, friction loss in piping systems, ultrapure/high purity water systems, specialty gas and chemical systems, solvent/acid/hazardous wastewater treatment systems or other related systems.
  • Experienced in conducting hydraulic calculations including friction loss analyses and pump sizing validated by recognized engineering methods.
  • Proven ability to interact professionally and technically with project managers, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Solid communication skills tailored for technical writing, client presentations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Semiconductor experience is preferred.
  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
