WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Welding Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing all skilled welders, machinist, technicians, support staff, and welding shop activities for the product support shop. Assigns work, directs staff, and trains employees in repair and service procedures to ensure that safe, appropriate and efficient repairs are performed. Interacts with customers and superiors regarding service progress. Have knowledge in various welding techniques to cut, join, fabricate and repair metal or other weldable materials in support of heavy equipment repair and service. Organize fabrication projects from blueprints, sketches, working drawings and/or verbal instruction. An ability to design parts and equipment to meet unusual or special customer needs or special jigs and hold fixtures for use in equipment repair activities. Reading and interpreting technical shop manuals and electronic refence materials is required. Calculate quantities, time, and materials, and maintain inventory of supplies through inspection of stock and ordering supplies and maintains welding shop in serviceable condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned operational unit.
-Investigate and document events of work-related injury and/or property damage.
-Maintain effective work, vacation and training schedules for assigned staff.
-Maintain project tracking and progress reports for assigned operation unit.
-Research and coordinate resolution of discrepancies within assigned operational unit.
-Submit accurate time records related to work performed and/or hours worked.
-Respond to customer inquiries related to service.
-Schedule service for customer equipment.
-Manage staff and policy to achieve business objectives.
-Review and maintain familiarity with service letters, magazines and news published by Vendors.
-May have to lift up to 25-30 pounds.
-Requires frequent hand use for typing, operating the phone, handling materials, and other job-related tasks
-May work in situations where hazards may be present
-Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
-High school diploma required, college and/or technical education preferred.
-Welding and/or machinist training and/or welding and/or machinist training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships or manufacturer factory training preferred.
-Five or more years of previous hands-on welding and/or machinist experience working on construction equipment, including Caterpillar.
KNOWLEDGE, TECHNICAL SKILL, & ABILITIES
-Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and on-call hours as required.
-Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, adaptability and a strong customer service focus.
-Sense of urgency and self-initiative, and the personal drive for success.
-Accepts responsibility for mistakes or problems. Maintains "ownership" of assigned tasks.
-Works independent of supervision on assigned tasks. Moves between projects as scheduling requires.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
