Overview

We are seeking an experienced Counsel with 8+ years of regulatory experience in the online or land-based gaming space to join our market-leading gaming practice. Our clients include many of the world's leading gaming operators, technology providers, and adjacent-market innovators.

The Counsel will be responsible for advising clients and supporting partners and senior attorneys across the full spectrum of online and land-based gaming, sports wagering, fantasy sports, and emerging adjacent product lines. You will work with industry-leading clients on high-impact matters at the intersection of law, technology, and rapidly evolving regulatory frameworks.


Responsibilities

* Provide legal advisory services across all aspects of online gaming, both directly to clients and in support of partners and senior attorneys.
* Analyze proposed product features, operational structures, and business models for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
* Provide guidance on licensing requirements and support clients through various regulatory approval processes.
* Assess the legality of offering products in specific jurisdictions and advise on multistate operational strategies.
* Monitor and interpret developments in gaming laws, regulations, and enforcement trends.
* Engage with new and emerging verticals in adjacent or related markets, providing practical, business-oriented advice.
* Collaborate with colleagues across regulatory, litigation, transactional, and advisory teams on cross-disciplinary matters.
* Conduct business development activities and prospective client outreach.
* Delegate to and manage junior attorneys.


Qualifications

* 8+ years of experience in gaming, sports wagering, iGaming, fantasy sports, or related fields (prior law firm, in-house, or regulatory agency experience will be considered).
* Strong working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
* Outstanding research, writing, and analytical skills.
* Quick learner with demonstrated ability to engage confidently with novel and emerging product categories.
* Reliable, responsive, and proactive work style; able to operate independently while contributing to a creative, innovative and highly collaborative team.
* Flexible team player; adept at working under the direction of partners as well as independently.
* Excellent communication skills and comfort working with sophisticated clients.
* Understanding of the business of law.
* Demonstrated ability to thrive on a lean, fast-paced, and high-performing team.
* Membership in the State Bar of the office where you wish to be based (or ability to become admitted promptly).

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position starts at $270,000 for 1,600 bonus eligible hours and goes up to $360,000 for 1,800 bonus eligible hours.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
