Support the practices by answering telephone inquiries, scheduling appointments, providing clear and informative triaging, assisting clerical call center specialists, offering callers clinical advice, handling medically complicated callers, VNAs etc. Provide back-up INR coverage for sites and schedule all TCM appointments. Assist with clerical, environmental, organizational and other tasks as assigned. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinical services.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Answer telephones. Assist clerical specialists with medically complex calls and emergency callers; handle VNA, physician, urgent result calls. Consistently handle an average of 100 calls per shift while keeping calls to an average of 4 minutes.
2. Appropriately triages calls. Records complete and accurate information. Provides and documents instructions given to callers in the EHR. Uses the call process in EHR consistently.
3. Schedule appointments. - a. Uses templates correctly. b. Uses appointment types and times correctly. c. Utilizes all PCP sites for scheduling same-day appointments.
4. Schedules TCM appointments for all offices appropriately; start tasks and enter all necessary information.
5. Verify insurances. - Ensures patients insurance is active prior to scheduling appointments.
6. Understand and apply the self-pay policy to inform patients of their financial obligations when arriving for their appointment

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. CPR certification
2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure by Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Knowledge of medical specialty.
2. Minimum 1 year of health care experience.
3. Basic computer knowledge.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
