Job Description

The FSQA Technician I performs quality control checks on materials and products during the production cycle to ensure items meet quality standard and safety regulations. Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and work in a fast-paced warm environment. The FSQA Technician I reports to the FSQA Supervisor.


Job Duties:



  • Follow all Westrock policies & procedures, including the requirements of the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are followed by all personnel.
  • Perform in-line inspections on work-in-progress (WIP) and finished products to ensure compliance to defined specifications, including color, % moisture, density, grind analysis, weights, packaging date codes, packaging integrity, brewing performance and others as defined.
  • Perform inspections throughout the process to evaluate work performed by production associates and ensure compliance to quality standards.
  • Inspect raw materials or components involved in the production process for suitable quality.
  • Complete in-line Supersack release/approvals.
  • Accurately enter test results into a quality database.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming goods when required.
  • Conduct relevant testing of products on hold when required.
  • Perform general daily housekeeping in work area to maintain a clean & safe GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliant working environment.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed and performing other duties as requested by management.

Qualification
Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years' experience with quality inspection, auditing, data collection, and/or testing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Office-based database systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend department documents including Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Standards.
  • Ability to display sound logic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate comfortably and work with co-workers in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Associate degree in biological science, chemistry, quality technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Competent computer skills.
