Patient Service Specialist (On-Site) - York, ME Contract-to-Hire \| Full-Time \| On-Site Location: York, ME 03909 Schedule: * 3 days: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM * 2 days: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM About the Role We are seeking a Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join a highly supportive and patientfocused medical center. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a peopleoriented environment and enjoys delivering exceptional customer service. You will be the first point of contact for patients-greeting, registering, scheduling, and helping support a smooth, positive experience throughout their visit. This position is critical to daily operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, accurate registration, and a seamless revenue cycle for the clinic. A strong candidate is someone who genuinely wants to work in healthcare, is comfortable interacting with patients (including those who may be upset or in pain), and can multitask in a fastpaced environment. Key Responsibilities * Welcome patients, check them in, explain visit expectations, and assist with checkout. * Schedule patient appointments in person and over the phone. * Communicate with attorneys, insurance companies, translators, operational leaders, and internal teams. * Collect co-pays, process payments, and assist with billingrelated questions. * Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations as required. * Prepare patient intake paperwork to ensure timely appointments. * Counsel patients regarding financial responsibility. * Maintain accuracy in registration and ensure proper documentation. * Contribute to quality assurance goals and maintain a clean, safe environment. * Navigate desktop applications, Microsoft Office, and office equipment (phones, fax, copiers, scanners). Nice-to-Have Skills * Knowledge of basic bookkeeping or accounts receivable. * Fluent typing skills (40+ WPM). * Proficiency with Windowsbased software. * Experience handling payments or insurance verification. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, ME. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
